Portuguese Passport for Goans – Marriage Registration in Portugal

The Marriage Transcription/Registration in Portugal takes 7 working days. The marriage process can be submitted in Conservatoria or in one of the many Registos Civil (Civil Registry). To submit the process in Civil Registry one needs an appointment but the waiting time is much less compared to the wait time at the Portuguese Consulate in Goa. (Generally it takes 5 – 7 days to get an appointment).

Documents Required
1. Birth Certificate of spouse who is not registered in Portugal
2. Marriage Certificate from Sub – Register or Civil Registry.
3. Assento do Nascimento (Copy)

Birth Certificate
Birth Certificate should be from the Sub – Register only. It can be in "TEOR" or Extract. If the Birth Certificate is not in Portuguese than it has to be translate in Portuguese Language.

Marriage Certificate
Marriage Certificate has to be from Sub – Registry or Civil Registry. The certificate can be in Extract or Teor.

Attestation of Documents
For the documents obtained from Goa
The first three documents (Birth, Residence & Additional Residence) have to be attested by a Notary.

Under Secretary (Home Dept.).
Portuguese Consulate Panjm Goa

For the documents obtained from Daman & Diu and neighboring states.
Notary.
Mantralya .
Under Secretary (Home Dept.).
Portuguese Consulate Panjim Goa.

For documents obtained from other parts of India
External Affairs Ministry – Delhi.
Portuguese Embassy – Delhi.

Cost involved obtaining the Documents.
Other than the normal charges (Govt. Adm.) to obtain the above mentioned documents
Nortary – Rs. 70.00 (Adv. Filomena Da Silva Apana Bazar) per document
Collector – Rs. 100.00 per document
Under – Secretary – Rs. 100.00 per document
Portuguese Consulate – Rs. 719.00 per document

Attestation from External Affairs & Portuguese Embassy
Rs. 7000.00


Translation of Documents In Portuguese
Rs. 120 Per Document including Notary Fees. The translation charges workout to be Rs. 50.00 only as Rs.70.00 is the Notary Fees. For professional translation, click HERE.

Charges to Submit the Process in Conservatoria dos Registos Centrais or Registo Civil Lisboa Portugal.

To submit the process in Conservatoria dos Registos Centrais in Lisboa Portugal and subsequent follows ups with the Conservatoria with regular updates via e-mail, Yahoo Messenger, MSN, Google Chat. There is no appointment at the Conservatoria to submit the Marriage Transcription Process. The completion of the entire Birth Transcription process takes 45 days or earlier or you can get back your fees.

To submit the Marriage Transcription process in Registo Civil/Conservatoria dos Registos Centrais in Lisboa Portugal. There are no follow – ups nor updates. The process will be submitted in Conservatoria that's the end of it. There is no appointment at the Registo Civil/Conservatoria to submit the Marriage Transcription Process.

Please could you advise whether the Portuguese Embassy in Goa will be moving to Delhi in January 2011 or is there a date fixed for this? Will everyone then have to apply for Visas, ID and Passports etc.. through the Delhi Embassy?
