Portuguese Passport for Goans – Born After 1961 Birth Registration in Portugal

This post will cover the documents required and the procedure for birth registration for persons born after 19th Dec 1961.

For all people who are born after 1961 and are decedents of Portuguese Goans (Daman & Diu Also), one of the parents has to be a Portuguese National & their marriage registered in Portugal to apply for your Portuguese Nationality. To obtain Portuguese Nationality for your parents click HERE. To register your parents marriage in Portugal click HERE.

Once you have the Assento do Nascimento & Assento do Casamento of your parent/s you can file for your Portuguese Nationality. The documents required to file for your Portuguese Nationality are listed below.

Documents Required
1. Birth Certificate of the applicant from Sub – Register
2. Birth Certificate of the parent whose birth is not registered in Portugal.
3. Residence Certificate from the Panchyat or Mamladar
4. Photo ID (Optional)
5. Assento de Nascimento of your parent who is registered in Portugal
6. Assento de Nascimento of your parents.

Birth Certificate
Birth Certificate should be from the Sub – Register only. It can be in "TEOR" or Extract. If the Birth Certificate is not in Portuguese than it has to be translate in Portuguese Language.

Residence Certificate
The residence certificate has to be from Panchyat or Mamladar. The certificates have to be translated to Portuguese if they are in any other languages.

Photo ID
The photo ID can be an Indian Passport or any other picture ID issued by the Indian Government.

Attestation of Documents
For the documents obtained from Goa
The have to be attested by a Notary.
Dy. Collector.
Under Secretary (Home Dept.).
Portuguese Consulate Panjm Goa

For the documents obtained from Daman & Diu and neighboring states.
Notary.
Mantralya .
Under Secretary (Home Dept.).
Portuguese Consulate Panjim Goa.

For documents obtained from other parts of India
External Affairs Ministry – Delhi.
Portuguese Embassy – Delhi.

Cost involved obtaining the Documents.
Other than the normal charges (Govt. Adm.) to obtain the above mentioned documents
Nortary – Rs. 70.00 (Adv. Filomena Da Silva Apana Bazar) per document
Collector – Rs. 100.00 per document
Under – Secretary – Rs. 100.00 per document
Portuguese Consulate – Rs. 719.00 per document

Attestation from External Affairs & Portuguese Embassy
Rs. 7000.00


Translation of Documents In Portuguese
Rs. 120 Per Document including Notary Fees. The translation charges workout to be Rs. 50.00 only as Rs.70.00 is the Notary Fees. For professional translation, click HERE.

Charges to Submit the Process in Conservatoria dos Registos Centrais or Registo Civil Lisboa Portugal.

Euro 350.00
Registration Charges Euro 175.00

To submit the process in Conservatoria dos Registos Centrais in Lisboa Portugal and subsequent follows ups with the Conservatoria with regular updates via e-mail, Yahoo Messenger, MSN, Google Chat. There is no appointment at the Conservatoria to submit the Birth Registration Process. The completion of the entire Birth Registration process takes 15 days.

Registration Charges Euro 175.00

To submit the Marriage Transcription process in Conservatoria dos Registos Centrais in Lisboa Portugal. There are no follow – ups nor updates. The process will be submitted in Conservatoria that's the end of it.

Please give true information. Conservatória dos Registos Centrais, since last year does not accept any marriage process. And until September the Civil Register Department (who are competent to do it) are not accepting any process.

I cannot argue about your comment. I submit all the process at the Conservatoria.

More... I can inform you that in September all the marriage processes, at least in Lisbon, will be submited in a front office in the Civil Register Department (Conservatória Registo Civil).
As I am I lawyer in Portugal I have to go there every week, you can update your website with that information.
Your website has accurate information, however my experience does not confirm the process time that you mentioned.

hi my birth is registere in portugal but i dont have a election card to apply for a B.I is a election card really needed to apply for a B.I or it could be optional like any goverment photo id like indian passport..pls reply i need ur help goa news

Any Government Issed Photo ID which clearly displays your details and Picture Should be fine.

I have submitted every document except Photo ID to obtain Portuguese Nationality for my parents alas! i have time and again been asked for identification issued during Portuguese Rule which my Parents do not have. They however, do have their birth certificates and marriage certificate.This case is pending with the Conservertas could you please help.
