Finally there is some good news for those whose birth certificates have been destroyed. We have completed a marriage registration using a baptism certificate. The process took 4 months to complete but you don't have to go to the process of re-registration of your birth. This is good news for Catholic Goans as the church has maintained their records well .
The documents required to register the marriage are the same .
1. Assento de Nascimento
2. Birth Certificate of the spouse who is not registered or Baptism Certificate
3. Marriage Certificate from Civil Registrar.
4. Demand Draft of Euro 136.00 (made payable to Conservatoria dos Registo Civil de Lisboa).
